Advertisements

Biological needs are the most basic needs: survival needs such as food, water, air, and shelter.

This advertisement is a great example of biological needs. The hamburgers were enlarged to show the juicyness of the beef, the freshness of the vegetables, and the goldeness of the buns. The contrast between the background and the hamburgers is strong, which makes the hamburgers stand out even more. The text is simple but clear, hamburgers from Applebee’s are real; they are a lot bigger than other hamburgers (in comparison to the hamburgers from McDonald's). The advertisement lets everyone know that if they were to go to Applebee's, their hunger need would be fulfilled. Just look at all the food!



Safety and security needs are basically dealing with the need to be free from threats or predators, and the need to have life run smoothly.

This ad is n example of a Safety need The strategy of this ad is comparing. The girl in the advertisement is blowing her hair near a toaster that is on fire. The advertisement is conveying that if you rent a home or an apartment without an insurance, it is equivalent to doing the most dangerous activities in your home. This ad fits the safety need because people feel secure and safe when they have insurance.



Belongingness and love needs are needs for satisfication, acceptance, and the need to be part of a group.


ADVERTISEMNET OF THE SALVATION ARMY
Winter, forest, and a bench makes you feel lonely, sad and depressed. The colour scheme of the advertisement is blue; a colour that makes you feel lonely, and cold. The text in this advertisement is very clear: we see what most don't. It brought the relationship between the viewers and the Salvation Army closer. Since they "sees" and understands" you more. The strategy of this advertisement is expressing that the Salvation Army is always looking out to help people in need. This ad conveys the love and belongingness need because it is expressing that there are people who will help anybody in need and those people will feel like they belong.



Self-actualiztion needs are needs to develop and grow as a person, to find one's identity, and to fully realize one's potential. It includes the need to achieve satisfaction by a personal standard of excellence.


U.S MARINES
This ad expresses the self-actualization need of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The strategy of this ad is conveying that the U.S. Marines only wants people who are able to live up to their highest potential and push others to do the same. This ad fits the self-actualization ad because it is expressing people to be the best they can be and then they will feel self-fulfillment.
